Mend Collaborative

origins

Mend Collaborative was formed when two people, one who experienced harm and the other who was responsible for causing harm, discovered the power of partnership. Rebecca, a survivor of violence — her beloved sister Wendy was murdered more than thirty years ago — and a long standing advocate in the survivor and restorative justice community, joined with Miguel, formerly incarcerated for violence he committed in his youth, and now a restorative justice practitioner, to co-facilitate a dialogue. They discovered the healing power and potential of grounding our work in a collaborative relationship that mirrors the goals and values of restorative justice and decided to found Mend Collaborative and lead by example as co-directors to support survivors of harm.

Our Team

Mend Collaborative staff are survivors and people who are formerly incarcerated. Our lived experiences bring wisdom, expertise, integrity and credibility to the work of healing. Our team is diverse and represents the communities we serve. Our organization is the fruition of many years of collective work in prisons and in the community to address the harms of violence.
